Werner Elements Hires Summer Intern
Introducing Daren Hill
As Werner Elements gears up for the summer months, they welcome their first intern, Daren Hill. Daren, a senior at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design, believes life, like art, is all about networking and fostering new relationships. As a working artist, what keeps Daren grounded in helping others. When Daren helps people overcome their fears, aspire, and achieve their dreams, that inspires him to continue to create art. Hill is a visual artist with previous experience in the blogosphere as a staff writer for The Source magazine. With Werner Elements, you can expect to see him delve into the local scene by interviewing artists, your favorite restaurant and bar owners, and many other creatives that make Minneapolis great.
Creating the Future
As a creative place-maker, Daren is constantly paying attention to the details, seeking to push boundaries, and build new relationships through his work. “My hope is that my work and art inspires people and is able to transcend all boundaries. I want to make my art, and my peers’ art, accessible to everyone globally.” Daren is a prolific creator who often has an idea and feels compelled to create into the wee hours of the morning. For him, constantly creating art is a way to ensure his legacy as an artist is undeniable. He aspires to produce enough work to fill a large museum like the Guggenheim in New York, NY.
What Makes Daren Tick
Aside from art and his passion for writing, Daren is a father of two, who enjoys spending time with his family and co-creating art with his daughters Amira and Zara. He enjoys cooking, taking walks with his family along the Minnehaha Parkway, as well as riding bikes. In his younger years, he was a semi-professional Bmx biker who would spend hours on trails around Minneapolis. Though he no longer rides a Bmx bike, he occasionally watches BMX videos online to live vicariously through pro-Bmxer’s like Nigel Sylvester. Daren considers himself a self-proclaimed movie buff. Between work, school, and family obligations he is constantly looking for the perfect movie, whether on Netflix, Amazon, or his local AMC theater. Daren enjoys reading sci-fi novels, and historical non-fiction. Some of his favorite authors include Philp K Dick, Ralph Ellison, Fredrick Douglas, and Langston Hughes. Daren lives by the motto “live, love and create.”
